Oregon Explorer’s Guide
Owners Margaret and Bob Thurman approached the building of their inn, one of the newest in the Mount Hood area, with a goal in mind. "We designed it," Margaret says, "to evoke a strong, nostalgic feeling for early Welches resorts." To accomplish this, the Thurmans brought the outdoors into the guest cabins, using knotty pine for the vaulted ceilings as well as for the kitchen cabinets, and furnishing them with log furniture. The five cabins contain a total of nine living units with complete kitchens for guests ($79-119). In addition, all units have access to a laundry facility as well as to a seasonal creek that runs through the center of the property. "It's the lowest priced, best-value overnight accommodations on Welches Road," Margaret says.

Affordability, accessibility to recreational activities, and wonderful hosts make this a great lodging choice in the Mt. Hood area. Comfortable, large studio units have knotty-pine vaulted ceilings and log furnishings. As a bonus, full-size kitchens make cooking "at home" a breeze. Surrounding woods offer privacy. Patios on each unit face the seasonal creek, and each cabin has lock-storage units large enough to hold bikes, skis, or snowboards.
