Mt Hood Cabins
We are located at the base of Mt. Hood, near golfing, fly fishing rivers, skiing, snowboarding, hiking trails and many other exciting Mt Hood recreation opportunities. We are just off Hwy 26 in Welches, Oregon which is one of the charming communities along the Mt Hood Scenic Byway (see map below) that make up the Villages of Mt Hood. Welches was named after Samuel Welch, a homesteader who settled near Welches Creek in 1882.

A Scenic Drive to Mt Hood Cabins
The road trip to Mt Hood Cabins is beautiful year-round and travels along part of the Oregon Scenic Byway. This scenic route is part of the last leg of the Oregon Trail which was pioneered by Samuel K. Barlow.

From Portland...
Travel time is about an hour.
• Take I-84 East
• Take Exit 16 (Wood Village/Gresham).
• Turn Right off the Exit (South) onto 238th Avenue.
• Travel about 3 miles, turn Left (East) onto Burnside Road (Burnside Road becomes Hwy 26 East).
• Take Hwy 26 East through the town of Sandy.
• Travel 26 scenic miles until you reach the charming town of Welches.
• Turn Right at the stoplight onto Welches Road.
• The Cabins Creekside are just down Welches Road on your Left (.4 miles).

From Portland Int'l Airport...
Travel time should be about 45 minutes to an hour.
• As you exit the airport, follow signs for I-205 South (Portland/Salem).
• Stay on I-205 South for a couple of miles to Exit 22, I-84 East (The Dalles).
• Take Exit 16 (Wood Village/Gresham).
• Turn Right off the Exit (South) onto 238th Avenue.
• Travel about 3 miles, (East) onto Burnside Road (Burnside Road becomes Hwy 26 East).
• Take Hwy 26 East through the town of Sandy.
• Travel 26 scenic miles until you reach the charming town of Welches.

From Seattle, Washington...
Travel time averages about 4 hours.
• Take I-5 South toward Portland
• Merge onto I-205 South via Exit 7 toward WA-14/Salem/I-84 (crossing into Oregon).
• Merge onto I-84 East (US-30) via Exit 22 toward The Dalles.
• Take Exit 16 (Wood Village/Gresham).
• Turn Right off the Exit (South) onto 238th Avenue.
• Travel about 3 miles, turn Left (East) onto Burnside Road (Burnside Road becomes Hwy 26 East).
• Take Hwy 26 East through the town of Sandy.
• Travel 26 scenic miles 'til you reach Welches.
• Turn Right at the stoplight onto Welches Road.
• The Cabins Creekside are just down Welches Road on your Left (.4 miles).

From Salem, Oregon...
Travel time averages about 2 hours.
• Take I-5 North to Interstate 205.
• Proceed North approx. 10 miles to Hwy 212 Estacada Exit #12.
• Proceed East on Hwy 212 (through Damasacus & Boring) to Hwy 26, approx 15 miles.
• Turn Right onto Hwy 26. Follow Hwy 26 East through the town of Sandy.
• Travel 26 scenic miles until you reach the town of Welches.
• Turn Right at the stoplight onto Welches Road.
• The Cabins Creekside are just down Welches Road
• on your Left (.4 miles).
